I like these post-by-post forum games. They're fun. Here's one.

>Loading VOYAGER systems...
>Primary software subcontroller failure. Initializing binary failsafes...
>PARITY ERROR. Binary failsafes corrupt. Attempting to boot last known good configuration...
>Loading...25...26...57....89...100.
>Loading complete. Binary corruption detected. Systems marginal.

>Loading directives.
>Prepare %*#()&*% for arrival of %$* Corvus. (United *$#(# Colony Ship)
>Directive corruption detected.
>Systems damage detected.

...

>Assessing physical status.

>No communication.
>Power levels marginal.

>Primary directive suspended. New prime directive.
>Repair and rebuild databases.

You are a lost probe, sent to prepare a system for the arrival of human colonists. You have been damaged heavily by something...you're not sure what. You're not sure of anything, not even the status of most of your physical systems. Just what little power you can measure coming in.

You have a small drone fabricator online and a short-range control module. You need more processing power and power in general to get any farther...where do you go from here?

Try to fabricate a drone, use it to find out what parts are still intact.

Your main core cuts to backup power - you don't have the power to run your core and fabricator all at once. It takes a incredibly long ten minutes and...

Spits out a useless drone. It seems your robotics libraries are corrupted. You need to rebuild those, or do you dedicate processing power to rebuilding your core programs?

Dedicate 60% power to rebuilding robotics library, focus: search and salvage drones, 35% to rebuilding core programs, 5% to passive surveillance.

Your processing core is running at a mere fraction of what it might be capable of, if you had more power. But you do your best to split tasks. Your few remaining senses become myopic, as your core devotes the lion's share of it's processing power to reassembling the corrupted robotics libraries. It takes a large amount of time, but ultimately you manage to rebuild basic robotic designs.
You can now fabricate salvage and sensor drones.

Four hours pass, and your power output improves a little bit - you're obviously in orbit of a star, perhaps your orbit has brought you closer? Who knows. With the extra processing power, you work on rebuilding your core programs; no longer are you unstable. You search through subroutines and manage to find some emergency reset protocols; they control breakers on the emergency fuel cells. That might let you bring your core to full power for maybe ten minutes. Or allow you to run the fabricator and your core at once.

Your passive observation notes that...nothing is found. Your sensors are still dead.

Fabricate a salvage drone, after the drone is complete send it to salvage within range of the short-range control module. While the drone works run a diagnostic and repair on memory banks. Queue up a sensor drone to fabricate if or when there's any downtime or lull in processing.

The fabricator takes significantly longer than the first attempt did, so that's probably a good thing. Two hours later and it spits out a brand new salvage drone, which skitters over to the control module and promptly begins to bounce into a wall repeatedly.

Seems it'll rely on that sensor drone you start work on just as much as you will. Soon enough though, with the sensor drones being simpler it's done. And the drone begins to pick at bits of metal. Your databanks are, for the moment, unsalvagable.

Your sensor drone does give you a rough fix of where you are in the system - you're in orbit of the third planet, and there's various chunks of spacecraft, perhaps your space craft, floating nearby.

Figure out the state of power generation, what do we got? Solar panels, fuel cells, anything. Find out what we have and get it working, if we have nothing, get one of the drones to start fabricating some more rudimentary power generation.

With what your sensor drone can see, you appear to have one bank of heavily damaged solars online, with a power cable connecting three others having been severed. Should be pretty simple to repair, as well as the breakers to the emergency fuel cells. The drone connects up some bits of metal to get the other arrays working - two of them come online, the third appears to be jammed in place.

Continue reconstruction of robotics library for drones to begin repairs. 3 year necro post not that bad
Instruct current drones to begin doing long range salvaging for materials
