BYOND Key: bewawolf19

Species you want to apply for: Zaddat

Name of Characters In-game: Wilson, Omni, Harmony, Cloud-B-87, S885151059

How long you've been playing Polaris: Atleast since May 4th, 2017 (Oldest Polaris related document I have is from that date), being on and off then becoming more regular around Fall of 2018.

Some example names of the species: Itzi Azaz, Kazki Zron, Kalik Triz, Azor Vinx

Demonstrate that you understand the lore and behaviours necessarily to properly portray this species in your role-play:

The Zaddat are an industrial guild-driven race of a decaying homeworld, venturing out into the stars underneath their guardian and overlord, the Hegemony.

Biology: They are a bug-ish people with a biology specifically tailored to surviving their now-ruined home planet of Xohok, however creates many issue when faced with environments of low (For them) pressure, nitrogen, and the fact that their symbiotes will commit "Suicide via breeding" when exposed to sufficient amounts of light (Which, isn't much) that can potentially even kill the Zaddak host in a few minutes.

Shroud: Something developed to assist with the many issues of living, which also has developed as an iconic and integral cultural item of the species themselves, is the Shroud. The shroud is an all-encompassing voidsuit that serves to protect their wearers from pressure to disease, as well as being specifically made to allow the user to eat meals in, and deal with any waste. Due to there only being a limited amount of designs, they often become severely decorated with miscellaneous objects that the Zaddat deems fitting.

History: To put it briefly, the Zaddat history is one of predominant guild control over all aspects of society, where to be outside of the guild at some points would be a practical death sentence. Severe industrialization of their home planet though lead for the ecological breakdown of...well, the planet, which lead to the adoption of the photosynthetic symbiotes to survive. Then the lizard people game with the modern equivalent of two dudes with guns in a boat, and promptly began converting the locals. Several guilds negotiate with the Hegemony, and these guilds become the slightly very important spacer guilds. Later there was a minor civil war, the environmentally ruined planet Xohox got more environmentally ruined, and eventually the Zaddat were permitted to travel freely around Hegemony space and even eventually all space (Provided there was an Unathi escort. The military kind.)

Religion: Zaddat tend to be devote (But not the most zealous) followers of the unity, with superstitions existing that their photosensitivity is punishment from the Divine for how rudely (Read brutally murdered) they treated their homeworld, and view that the arrival of the Unathi as a massive blessing.

The Guilds: Guilds dominate every moment of a Zaddat's life, from their birth to their death. All Zaddat go through education from the Noble Guild, the group dedicated to educating the Zaddat masses and raising their childeren (As well as Polyp production). After six years learning under the Noble Guild, a young Zaddat will then pledge themselves to a guildmaster to suffer another decade of training before finally recieving full rights, and eventually receiving apprentices for themselves.
Other important guilds:

Spacers (Who ostensibly concern themselves with only mining and navigation, but has most unselfishly and totally not-power-hungery-driven taken the burden of controlling most of the diplomacy with other races).

Xozi Engineer's guild ( The largest engineering guild, parent of the spacers, and selfless maintainers of of the colonies which rest of the Zaddats parasitically live off of.)

The Droning Guild (A newer guild who made the discovery that the best type of thing to work in areas that can't sustain life is a machine that isn't alive, and best of all, won't compete against you. I mean, who ever heard of a Toaster taking away your promotion opportunity?)

Art houses: Not a specific guild, but rather many aesthetic-related guilds who while they admit few members, make wonderous art, and have taken it upon themselves to act as the sole voice of reason amidst the bickering guilds.

The Colonies:

As their home planet is moderately superfucked, and due to what is "Habitual and luxurious" for most species translates as "Cancerous death-place of unhappiness and pain" to Zaddat, the vast majority of Zaddat have taken to living in large habitat ships can sustain their life (And also likely very quickly kill any other species who decides to visit without proper protection, the shoe is on the other foot now!). The Zaddat colonies however are not extremely independent, and require outside assistance to create new Colony ships or repair existing ones.

Relations with others: In brief.

Humanity: Thank you for allowing us to work for you! We still like Moghes more though, since, they are our saviors and all. You do however look absolutely stunning with that fleshie skin all over you! Miiind if I take a look at some of your documents quick?

Positronics: Damn machines, why can't they just find jobs wherever we are not currently at?

Drones: I can use you and sell you. You are perfect.

Skrell: Not every planet has to be copy of your homeworld, you know.

Unathi: Our saviors and kind overlords.

Tajaran: I...Rather not be stuck with you, no offense.

Diona: You are the kindest plants we ever met. Just a question, you sleep in a pot? If not, what do you want us to install for your bedroom in the life support bay?

Teshari: Living under the Skrell? I feel bad for you.

Vox: ....Don't you even dare say it.

Why do you want to play this species?:
I'm a big fan species that are very much not-human, and this seems like an very interesting unique species that heavily doesn't fall under the (Human but they are a ___) archetype. Their biology also makes many things immensely more dangerous for them forcing one to show extreme caution towards any potential harm, which is a thing I always loved (Though sadly, are likely not a candidate for my personal goal of getting slapped and then having my head fall off as a result).

Anything else you wish to add:
Synth Station 2018, bug station 2019.

Hi, hello, thanks for applying. I'm looking for a little more information with regards to Zaddat culture and mentality but this is already a very strong application.

Alrighty.

Zaddat is the personification of the corporate machine, looking to climb up that org chart while viewing everything, including children, as future investments. When you add in the fact they view themselves as permanently representing the guild they are the member of, you get a excessively polite brown-noser who is aiming at pleasing anyone who may help them advance. They also don't do romance, so don't bother hitting on the bug. Also, don't physically hit the bug either.

Alright, good, but uh. I forgot to ask yesterday for more information on their relationship with the Unathi, which is on me, but I reallly want to make sure Zaddat-Unathi relationships are portrayed correctly. Could you give me a bit more there too?

Sure!

Unathi are the revered superiors (And religious savoirs for some) to the Zaddat, being highly respected and feared by the bugs. Pretty much all Zaddat would treat the average lizardman with the same obedience and deference as of those who occupy the highest positions in the greatest guilds. Of course there then also exists the scary unbound Unathi who surely spend their days cackling and plotting evil plans to destroy and damage everything in the horriblist of ways.
