Species you want to apply for: Zaddat

Name of Characters In-game: uhhhhh

How long you've been playing Polaris: About a year straight by now, but I used to be on and off for a whiiiiiile before that.

Some example names of the species: Koriz Seisesh (surname taken from original guildmaster), Axazx Zurta, Nizzu Zoxik

Demonstrate that you understand the lore and behaviours necessarily to properly portray this species in your role-play:

The Zaddat are, physiologically, not quite bugs, not quite jelly, not quite.. anything recognizable, though they share traits of many. They do have a carapace to protect their juicy innards, but they have an endoskeleton as well; albeit, weak and flexible, made mostly of collagens that have partially calcified.

Zaddat cannot survive outside of their shroud. Their post-apocalyptic homeworld was extremely high-pressure, and as a result, the Zaddat would die in a 100kPa environment. Many Zaddat take pride in the customization of their suits- That is, after all, the functional equivalent of their face in public. Fashion leans towards gaudy and tacky.

Zaddat are clients of the Unathi Unity, and have a reverent fear and respect for them-- Partially due to the belief that they were sent to save them from their own planet's destruction. They are considered exceptional apprentices, as when they exit their first stage of life --the 'polyp' stage --they are ripe information sponges ready to take in everything around them. They are taken on for a 5-6 year 'general education' within the Noble Guild before branching off for a further 10 to 15 year apprenticeship. After this, they are considered a journeyman, and will require 5 more years before being able to be considered a master.

The Zaddat, culturally, are utilitarian, focused heavily on climbing ranks and hierarchy. Human individuality is lost on them. They lean heavily towards Engineering jobs, though this is largely due to the nature of the Engineering Guilds and their prominence. Zaddat largely live on specialized Colony ships, mostly due to the inhospitable nature of their homeworld post-industrialization. They're transient, often reliant on other species for construction and major repair to their ships.

They are heavy followers of the Unity, but take on their own unique perspectives of some aspects, such as the sun-worship of Uueoa-Esa. The Zaddat search for a new homeworld is also an incredibly important aspect of their culture, and has taken on aspects of a religious pilgrimage.

Why do you want to play this species?: Bugs are cool. Also I see Opportunities.

Anything else you wish to add:

Obligatory Question Time:

What are the big guilds in Zaddat culture?

Can I have a bit more about their history? You only touch on the whole "new homeworld" deal.

What is the Standard Zaddat Response to the Unbound?

1: The Spacer's Guild, Noble Guild, Engineering Guild are the three I can remember quickly off the top of my head. There's also the droning guild and art houses-- the last of which is incredibly prestigious and highly-regarded.

2: I thought I went into a little more detail but I must have skimmed-- The tl;dr is that their homeworld was rendered atmospherically uninhabitable by rampant industrialization. The Unathi were their 'saviours', discovering them in 2341, when any and all surviving Zaddat were clustered into small, hospitable areas lit artificially for farming purposes. Collaboration with them eventually forms the Spacer Guild, responsible for shrouds and their colony ships.

By 2480, the sky goes completely and utterly dark, agriculture fails again, and the spacer guild becomes more powerful as a result of people looking to them for the next step. The Zaddat do not really assist in the contact war. Eventually, the fourth iteration of the Unity improves the relations between Unathi and Zaddat significantly, which presumably leads to the agreement of Zaddat being able to leave Hegemony space provided they have an escort with them when they do.

3: holy shit they eat babies and live in sewers run and hide
