BYOND Key: DiamondCharm

Species you want to apply for: Teshari

Name of Characters In-game: Betsy Milne, Salvador Thompson

How long you've been playing Polaris: More than two weeks now pretty regularly

Some example names of the species: Ceea Rieta, Tasini Eria, Anesche Latte

Demonstrate that you understand the lore and behaviours necessarily to properly portray this species in your role-play: Teshari are small, 2-3 foot bipedal creatures covered in feathers. Being small, they have difficulty wielding larger pieces of equipment, as much on the Southern Cross and other predominately human oriented spaces are built for creatures about double to triple their size. Along these lines, these creatures tend to shy away from work that requires heavy lifting and labor, often preferring either clerical or technical work.

This species is extremely social by nature. Leaning heavily on nonverbal cues for communication, members of this species will preen their feathers into different arrangements to express their current state of emotion. While naturally drab and pale in coloration, many Teshari are quite fond of using dyes and bright colors to present themselves in unique and interesting ways. Teshari find both Skrell and Human living conditions to be uncomfortably, or, in some cases, dangerously warm and cramped. This species prefers open, cool spaces with little regard or desire for privacy, and it's very rare for a teshari to live separately from their family pack.

Teshari share their homeworld with the Skrell, who view them as lesser and have relegated them as a second-class species, but also have worked to uplift them by allowing them to ride their coattails into the space age. In both Skrell society, and more locally under the merciful thumb of Nanotrasen, Teshari have a hard time advancing in social class, relegated to supporting roles, rather than leadership, and find themselves economically disadvantaged when compared with other races, as well as underrepresented politically on Sirisai and in employment with Nanotrasen. They are further oppressed in Skrell territory by means of denial of their unique cultures and heritages. While some have adapted well to Skrell society, others yet hold an enduring grudge for the society that stamped out what they see as an opportunity to thrive on their own.

Teshari, like many species, include pack (family) and individual names, and identify themselves with pack name prior to personal name. In practice, this leads to many Teshari having to explain to the uninitiated that they should be addressed by the second name listed on their ID's, rather than by their pack name.

Why do you want to play this species?: They're pretty similar in stature and styling to a species I play on a niche, lowpop server on Nebula, and both are high-energy types of species.

Anything else you wish to add: I received outside pressure from a variety of sources (see general chat in Discord) to put in my whitelist application earlier than I anticipated. Pls be nice.

Hello, contributor to outside pressure with unsolicited opinions:

Zirc is one of the best roleplayers I've had the pleasure of interacting with in SS13. They've been a delight to work with on the mentioned Neb fork, they've written some really entertaining and clever content (including issue reports: https://github.com/ScavStation/ScavStation/issues/216) and they would be a credit to raptorbirds. They've been playing human characters (Betsy and Sal) solidly for a few weeks, and played for months on the Neb fork before that. We've also chatted about Teshlore for the app and they've been pointed to Cerb and Joe as well.

Sorry if this is inappropriate, they just mentioned being nervous about the 'I want to see more play' thing in other denied apps and I thought maybe a vouch would be useful.

Only note I'd say is that it really isn't "NanoTrasen" supporting them so much as SolGov, NT are just a participant in an exchange scheme type dealio and aren't unique among Trans-stellars in employing Teshari.

Other than that... Sorry this took so long, and having someone vouch helps bc I haven't been on a lot the last couple of weeks so: Approved.

That's no problem at all, I appreciate you taking the time to look over the application, as well as make that correction. Thank you @Loaf for vouching for me.
